When you are learning new words, ask yourself the following questions.
- Is it a noun?
- Is it a verb?
- Is it an adjective?
- Is it an adverb?
- Is it a preposition?
- Is it a phrasal verb?
If you don't know what type of word it is from the context of the text the word appears in, you can use a dictionary. When you write new words in your vocabulary book, write the type of word next to the word.
For example: v = verb, n = noun, adj = adjective, adv = adverb, prep = preposition
know (v)
music (n)
big (adj)
slowly (adv)
between (prep)
