Christmas songs, giving and receiving presents, parties, dressing up, lots of food, the end of term ... December has to be the best month of the year, right?! Well, I certainly think so.
I constantly see pictures on my social network feeds of the summer, often accompanied with the captions ‘take me back!’, ‘I miss the summer!’ and ‘can’t it be summer already?!’ While I agree that the summer months are pretty much always awesome, I think December is so underrated.
I was lucky enough to grow up on a small group of beautiful islands in England and I absolutely love going back home when school or work has finished in December. I get to spend lots of time with friends and family, most of whom I haven’t seen for months.
Christmas Day this year was spent with my boyfriend, my family and my friends. I got to wear my goofy Christmas jumper all day, open lots of lovely presents and give out my gifts (my favourite part). In the afternoon my parents cooked an amazing traditional English Christmas dinner consisting of turkey, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, carrots, red cabbage, stuffing, parsnips, cranberry sauce, gravy and greens.
Another great part of December is New Year's Eve. Where I live, everyone dresses up in fancy dress to celebrate. It’s always so much fun to pick a costume or make one, although I usually cheat and buy mine online. This year I was a slice of pizza!
Only 11 months to go until I can enjoy it all again!
Which is your favourite month and why?
