It's your birthday next week and you're having a party. You want to invite your friend, Lisa. Write an email to invite her to the party. Tell her when it is, what she should bring and how to get there.

Subject: Invitation

Hi Lisa,

I'm having a birthday party next Friday at my house. Would you like to come? It'll be fun! Lots of people from my school are coming. You know some of them – Petra, Karl, Marco and Rob. Can you bring some lemonade and crisps?

My house is behind our school, 6 Greenfield Avenue. It's right next to the park and it's got a blue front door.

Top Tips for writing

  1. Use the present continuous for future plans and arrangements, e.g. I'm having a birthday party next Friday.
  2. Use capital letters for days of the week and for street names, e.g. Friday; Greenfield Avenue.
  3. Use Hope you can come to finish your invitation. Note: RSVP means 'please reply'.

I haven't planned about my next birthday yet because it's going to be in six months. When I invite my friends to a party, I usually write short messages, like: "Hello! I'm having a birthday party at home on 14th December. It will start at 5:00 PM. I hope you are going come.

I celebrate my birthday with my family and close friends every year. My mum, I, my grandmothers and my aunt prepare a lot of delicious foods such as cookies, cakes, patties and leaf wrapping.We spent amazing time together.I play games with my cousins and friends all day, I open my birthday gifts and I love all of them every time. When I was younger then now, I prepare a lot of handmade ornate invitation cards for my birthday but now, I call my guests with phone for invitation.

My birthday is 3rd of June, so it already passed. And I'm not going to have a party, so I won't invite anyone. I hadn't had a party so far, but I always go on a trip when my birthday was just around the corner. I don't have a mind to send an invitation to my friends, or ... anything like that!!!
